Tenant-powered accountability for the rental market.
Lordscore was built on a simple premise: renters deserve the same level of transparency that landlords have about tenants. Before a landlord accepts a tenant, they run credit checks, background checks, and rental history reports. But when a tenant signs a lease, they often have no way to know whether their landlord is responsive, fair, or trustworthy.
We set out to change that. By combining the browsability of a real estate platform like Zillow with the review system of RateMyProfessor, Lordscore creates a marketplace where landlord behavior has real consequences. Excellent landlords gain visibility and attract quality tenants. Toxic landlords face accountability — and over time, the inability to find tenants at all.
The goal isn't to punish landlords. It's to create the conditions for a healthier, more transparent rental market — one where both parties can make informed decisions.
If most of these landlords look like randomized stock photos, it's because they are.
Current legislation prohibits the publication of personal home ownership data in many contexts. However, property ownership records — including the names of property owners, the addresses of rental properties, and deed transfer history — are legally public record in all 50 states. This information is maintained by county assessors, deed registries, and tax authorities.
We pull this public data to identify the owners of rental properties, then assign each landlord a unique Lordscore ID until they choose to self-verify their identity. This allows us to compile profiles and ratings without publishing personal information that goes beyond what's legally public.
When a landlord holds property through an LLC, trust, or corporation, the entity name is used instead of a personal name. Landlords can claim their profile at any time to add a verified identity, respond to reviews, and showcase their properties.
We are open about how we source data, how scores are calculated, and what our limitations are. We don't hide behind algorithms.
Renters are the reason Lordscore exists. Every design decision prioritizes their ability to make informed decisions.
We give landlords the ability to claim profiles, respond to reviews, and dispute inaccurate information. We are not a one-sided platform.
Reviewer anonymity is non-negotiable. We will never share tenant identities with landlords, even under pressure.
Every review submitted makes the rental market a little more fair.
