A transparent look at how we collect, verify, and display landlord ratings to create accountability in the rental market.
We pull landlord and property ownership data from publicly available county assessor records, deed registries, and tax records. This data is legally public information in all 50 states. When a landlord holds property through an LLC or trust, we list the entity name.
Verified tenants submit anonymous reviews rating their landlord across 7 categories. We cross-reference submissions with property records to confirm the reviewer had a genuine tenancy. Duplicate or suspicious submissions are flagged for review.
Our algorithm weighs each category score and averages them across all verified reviews for a landlord's entire portfolio. Scores are updated in real time as new reviews are submitted. Landlords with fewer than 3 reviews display a provisional score.
Each category captures a distinct dimension of the landlord-tenant relationship. Together, they form a comprehensive picture of what it's actually like to rent from a given landlord or management company.

All reviews are submitted anonymously. We never share your identity with landlords, other tenants, or third parties. Your email (if provided) is used only for verification and is never displayed.
Landlord profiles are sourced from legally public county assessor and deed records. We assign a Lordscore ID to each landlord until they choose to self-verify. Personal home addresses are never published.
We cross-reference reviews with property records to reduce fake submissions. Reviews that appear fraudulent, defamatory, or in violation of our guidelines are removed after investigation.
Every review makes the rental market more transparent and fair.
